The first that comes up to my mind when I think about illustration are graphic works hanging on the walls in our house. They have been created by my grandfather who has been an illustrator, too. The second thing I remember are the books my father used to read to me and my brother when we were very young: Roberto Innocenti’s „Pinocchio“ and „A Christmas carrol“; Anastassija Archipowa’s Andersen Tales and Windsor Mccays „Little Nemo“ are a few books that I loved pretty much. I liked to get lost in these beautiful worlds and still they have a big impact on me and my point of view. I also read a lot of comics about (space) travels, discovering new realms and creatures. As I figured out later it has always been fantastic and grim stories that fascinated me when I was a child. As I grew older I tried to draw stories by myself. I created comic anthologies about characters I saw in movies and that I read about in books. But I thought that it has to come to an end one day. That I have to work and stop dreaming. So I started an apprenticeship in Dortmund in 2009 and became a media operator. But I ascertained quite quickly that this was not my way. Caused by a lucky circumstance I heard about design/illustration studies at Fachhochschule Münster which was not far from where I lived. So I finished my apprenticeship and applied for illustration in Münster. As I know now it has been the best decision I’ve made and I love what I am doing now. Still in love with books and fantastic stories, but with more knowledge about what I am doing I created my bachelor work: The illustrated opera „Don Giovanni“ by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte. I combined two disciplines that- for me- belong together very clearly: As I listen to music the whole day of course it has a big influence on my drawings. I could convince Kunstanstifter Verlag from Mannheim to share my enthusiasm and they are planning to publish it in 2017. At the moment I am working and living in Berlin, do event and book illustration, create exhibiton concepts for museums and recently published my first illustrated magazine together with Michael Szyszka (www.zapfenstreiche.de) called RATZEFUMMEL.
